In August 2017, the European Union has allocated an additional EUR 1.6 million grant to the Electoral Support Project (ESP) implemented by UNDP in Nepal. This new financing will be used to provide additional electoral assistance to the Election Commission of Nepal (ECN).
The EU has been supporting the electoral processes in Nepal since 2012 with a financial contribution of EUR 8.4 million to the basket fund, which also includes contributions from Denmark, Norway, UK Aid and UNDP. The project provides technical assistance to the Electoral Commission of Nepal (ECN) to hold credible, inclusive and transparent elections.
